A residence permit (Permesso di soggiorno) is a document issued by a state that gives the right to legal residence within its territorial boundaries. The documents are sent to the questura, they accept the documents and send them for consideration to the Ministero Dell’interno, and there they already decide on the basis of a package of documents whether to give or refuse. At the time of the application for an extension of the residence permit, the police department must also assess the immigrant’s situation and future employment prospects. In 2020, in order to renew the permit and officially reside in Italy, foreigners must (officially) prove an income of at least €5,977.79 per year (fixed amount of social benefits).

What is an investment visa for Italy?
The Investor Visa, Investor Program or Italian Residence Permit for Investment is a special type of immigrant visa designed for people who intend to invest in Italian capital in the amount of 250,000 euros. After obtaining a visa, the investor submits an application for a residence permit based on the obtained visa. An investment visa entitles you to an indefinite residence permit and Italian citizenship.
Volume and form of attachments
€250,000 for innovative start-ups registered in the Italian business register;
500,000 euros in companies registered and operating in Italy;
2,000,000 euros in Italian government bonds;
€1,000,000 – charitable donations in support of associations, companies and companies working in the areas of public interest, culture, education, immigration, research, cultural heritage and landscape restoration.
All investments must be made within three months of entering Italy on an investor immigration visa and have been in operation for at least two years.
Requirements for obtaining an investor visa
have a minimum capital for investment;
provide sources of origin of investments and rights to them;
make a formal commitment, confirmed by a written request, to invest within three months in Italy;
demonstrate the availability of financial resources to stay in Italy during the period of holding a residence permit.
