The benefits of working remotely: a complete list!

Due to recent events, working from home has become more acceptable and widespread, but still Russia is at the bottom of the list of countries supporting this transition. And there are many states that we can learn from (Italy, for example). Of course, the complete transition of companies to remote work is not such an easy process. We will have to create a remote management team – invest in their training. Find a Good Manager who (rare) can have experience working remotely to keep track of employees, set common goals and maintain work morale. At NSLimmobiliare, we value such people even more than senior developers, as they directly affect the success of project development, and they should be paid accordingly. But it’s only a matter of time before NAs switch to online work. Now this process has accelerated because of the coronavirus, but in any case it will take several months given the competitive demand of the service market. Soon the term “remote work” will be gone, it will just be “work. And we only have a choice to make: be one of the first in this direction and not stick to the office with ideas like “well, it paid for it” and “it looks more solid.”

Numerous studies, such as Coogle, FlexJobs and others, show that people who value autonomy and creativity achieve new levels of productivity in remote environments.

Many people believe that people are lazy when they work remotely, the quality of work decreases, it becomes more difficult to control employees, and in the end it is generally unprofitable.

We don’t think so, give a few reasons;

Remote work gives everyone the opportunity to work in a place that means something to him – gives the opportunity to allocate their time and plan their schedule.

For employees

  1. One of the main advantages of remote work for employees – no need to spend time and money on travel (subway, buses, gasoline). You get an extra couple of hours of personal time. As a result, the stress level at a remote job goes down.

  2. You have more freedom in everyday life (for children, parents, friends, grocery shopping, sports). You plan your own vacation, working hours. The company has a performance orientation, not a presence in the office.

  3. Stress is reduced (to get up early tomorrow so you won’t be late for work) you get enough sleep, your ability to work increases.

  4. Reduced overall fatigue, and therefore increased productivity. During the coronavirus, Google and Microsoft, for example, programming teams have worked better, even in spite of the overall situation, productivity and the level of self-organization of employees has increased several times.

  5. The design of your office or workplace is up to you. You can arrange it in any way that is convenient for you. Working time in that you are most productive; from 7 a.m. to 12 noon and then from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. or deep into the night. You do not need to ask to pick up your child from kindergarten or school, go to the doctor or deal with many other issues.
  6. Homemade food is often better, healthier and cheaper.
  7. You can get away from the metropolis and improve your life by choosing a place with fresh air, by the sea or in the mountains, a healthier community environment and a better school for your children. The priority in choosing a city or country is your personal well-being and the well-being of your family, not the location of the office.

  8. Less exposure to germs from sick colleagues (especially relevant in the Covid-19 era)

  9. The ability to travel to other places without a break from work. Complete freedom of movement, you become location independent and can even live/travel with other remote professionals.

  10. Some people find it easier to communicate with colleagues remotely. The amount of drama and office politics is decreasing. With a good manager, the team can become more cohesive, although much depends on how communication channels are built.
  11. Payroll taxes are lower in some countries, so you can save extra money. For your organization
  1. The main advantage is the ability to hire great employees, no matter where they live. As a result, the quality of work performed is higher and the cost of services of programmers and other staff is lower.

  2. People who work remotely are more productive. This was confirmed, for example, by scientists at Stanford University: of 500 subjects, home productivity increased by an average of 13%. The scientists themselves called it a “tremendous improvement,” and are surprised by these results.

  3. Agency “NSLimmobiliare” offer favorable conditions for outsourcing/outstaff: we do not need to rent offices in cities, due to this we can increase the salary. Hiring new employees becomes more efficient. Remote work naturally attracts motivated people, capable of self-organization, self-discipline, able to take responsibility for the result of the work.

  4. It becomes easier, faster to develop and scale the company. You don’t have to worry about outgrowing your office and having to look for the right place. Even if a company has hundreds or thousands of employees, nothing will change organizationally.

Employees increasingly expect their employers to be able to work remotely. Such jobs are more likely to be advertised, and they end up being valued more. Research has shown that people who work remotely are less likely to leave a company in search of new opportunities.

Supporting remote work almost automatically means that your organization will have a more diverse workforce – from different countries, cultures, backgrounds. Such a team in the development of the project can give more interesting, non-standard, creative ideas. The difference between those companies that recruit workers in only one country and those that don’t limit themselves to the states.
